The junction between the goods yard lines and main passenger railway at Davidson's Mains was some way east of the goods and passenger stations. The passenger line was at a higher level as the railway crossed Cramond Road South. The goods yard, which fronted onto the same road just to the south, was at ground level. This was a single lead junction. The signal box, opened with the line, was to the west, west of Silverknowes Road, on the north side of the line.
Passenger services were withdrawn in 1951 and the line west closed along with the signal box. Davidson's Mains Goods remained open until 1960.
The passenger station, goods yard, junction and signal box all changed name from Barnton Gate to Davidson's Mains in 1903 as housing developed in the area.
The trackbed still exists and is now a footpath.
